Weekending

Morning light ✨☀️💛 I hope everyone has a refreshing weekend!! Different in this moment: the afternoon light is a little lower a little earlier each afternoon. Letting go of expectations of what should be done this afternoon....instead listening to my heart and sitting outside in the sun knitting while my people playI'm alive. I exist. I am. Like the flame of the fire, I burn brightly. In the darkness is light, burning away all that is no longer needed. I feel the flames, the warmth, the comfort of the heat. And from the ashes I rise again. To burn bigger, to burn br

This weekend was what we needed.

I was awoken Saturday morning by the sun streaming into the bedroom. It was a gentle wake up with coffee, journaling & prayer.

We dropped my car off for a new tire & balancing and aligning and all that (last weekend on our way to my sister-in-laws we got a flat tire. Ran over a big piece of metal that tore through it.)

Saturday afternoon was spent knitting, watching cooking show's & relaxing in the sunshine while my husband cleaned up the yard (last Tuesday morning a huge freak storm rolled through the area and smacked our city. Trees on cars & in houses; a few houses a few neighborhoods away from ours were knocked off their foundations. Thankfully we just had a lot of big branches down with no damage. over 75% of the city was without power for over a day. We were lucky & were only without ours for 15 hours. The majority of that time while we were "camping").

Sunday was Mass & a quick run to the grocery store & more knitting in the sunshine & cooking steaks on the grill & enjoying a fire in the new fire pit (our first!)

As I was typing this weekending post up I realized I haven't updated here in over a week! Aside from the tire & the storm we were gone much of last week camping. Which means we left here to spend the day at my parents campsite with them & my sisters about a half hour away. At the end of the day we came home to our bed & shower! The end of the week was spent catching up on laundry & cleaning & grocery shopping.

Our weekend began Friday with getting ready for a wedding! The girls were flower girls in their cousins wedding and you have never seen two cuter flower girls! (If I do say so myself!) The best part in Marie-Therese's world was being able to be a part of the big girls getting hair done, makeup done and dressed. My heart overflowed with love for the bride and her bridesmaids. We arrived at the hotel and they all scooped my two little one's up and included them in every second of the joy of getting ready.

Both girls did fabulous. From walking down the aisle, to having their picture taken, to dancing away the night until 11:30!

Saturday was a late morning then packing up to head to my cousins high school graduation party. There was swimming and bouncing in the bounce house and another late night. Yesterday was Church and then grocery shopping and taking naps and yard work and trying to catch up on the laundry.

Today will be a slow day of relaxing, finishing catching up on all the house work that I let slide for a weekend of fun!

A 4th of July cookout with cousins; watching the fireworks from Washington DC on TV; a slow Sunday with a visit to a day lily nursery; a little bit of knitting, a lot of reading; pretty much exactly the kind of weekend we all love around here!!

This weekend was all about getting ready for and celebrating Easter.

We went to an Easter Egg Hunt at my mom's Church Saturday where Veronica not only guessed the correct amount of jelly beans in the water bottle but also won this stuffed frog that is bigger than she is....she loves it!

Then there was bagels & donuts at my moms, home to finish cleaning & setting up for Easter dinner, pizza for supper & an early bedtime for the girls (although one of them couldn't go to sleep thinking about the Easter bunny coming)

Easter morning dawned bright and early. Another egg hung at home, goodies in baskets, attending the joy filled Easter Mass, home to finish putting food together, then everyone arrived to enjoy food and each others company.

It was a fast paced weekend full of moments of peace and joy. Just the kind of weekend I love!

We went outside for almost an hour. The bright blue sky, brilliant sunshine, the amazing fresh air helped us all. The 1 year old spent her time slowly walking around & playing the dirt; the 5 year shoveled snow and looked for fairy messages. I watched the

This weekend has been full of rain and gray. The picture above was taken Friday afternoon when the girls and I got outside for awhile. It was wonderful!

Yesterday morning they were talking about it being a rainy day so I went out to do some grocery shopping and spend some quiet alone time at Church. By the time I got home it was raining.

So there was lunch & picking up the house before rest time.

The baby napped in her bed
The husband napped on the couch
and
Marie-Therese and I rested up in my bed. She watched some shows on the iPad and I began a new book.

After a few hours I came downstairs to bake a squash pie in honor of pi day and make calzones for supper.

There was supper and pie and books and bath and bed.

Momma is sick and tired of this gray weather. It's starting to affect my mood pretty badly. I have tried to not let it, and snap out of it....but it's not so easy some days! My poor people. Here's hoping spring arrives very soon so we can spend lots of time outside soaking up sunshine!

Today was Church and then home for lunch and rest again. I finished the book from yesterday, knit a little bit and did a little pick up around the house. Oh I also made a chocolate cream pie to bring to my sister-in-laws tonight. Still celebrating pi day!

December 1st

December already!

November was so full. I missed this space and visiting all yours. I will be fixing that this month!

But most of my computer time in November was writing for NaNoWriMo. I wrote 50,000 words. It was a wonderful motivating, inspirational and habit forming month. I learned that if I just sit down at the computer then words will come. I cannot guarantee that they will be the perfect words, but for writing a draft, they were good enough.

While doing that there was a first birthday to plan and celebrate. HOW has this first year gone by already? I cannot wrap my head around it!

There was Thanksgiving at my mom's. I made the cracker and cheese turkey, she made the fruit one. We had a fabulous day. And there was so much food left over that we went back down for supper Friday night too!

Over the weekend we enjoyed Daddy being home for four full days, an unheard of event around these parts. (I am very much looking forward to it's repeat at Christmas!) There was slow days of knitting and slowly getting up the Christmas decorations, sipping tea and hot chocolate, a little bit of shopping, a whole lot of Advent planning. My goal for this month is simplicity. In everything. To enjoy the season through the eyes of my girls. They need some art projects, baking cookies, twinkle lights and decorations and they are overjoyed. Simple and intentional are the mantra I will be repeating to myself in the next few weeks.

I am looking forward to catching up with everyone again!

The weekend began with rain....lots of it
so Saturday morning was spent cozied up inside making meatballs and a general tidy up of the house
then there was my nephew's kids birthday party
lots of kids
lots of paint
lots of fun!

Saturday afternoon was naps for everyone....even Ree!
running a few errands
spaghetti and meatballs for supper
and a relaxing evening of reading after the girls were in bed

Sunday was a tough morning even though it dawned bright & sunny
everyone seemed in an off mood
I needed to step outside by myself for a few minutes where I captured these pictures
that and Mass helped everyones mood
There was rest time for Ree & a nap for V
Momma watched football & finished up her Monkey sock
Daddy napped too
then it was off to the nephews family birthday party
and early bedtime when we got home for everyone

How was your weekend?

The color of October Late afternoon Autumn golden glow. Knitting, football, time outside. Aside from the little girl with a drippy nose it's been a good Sunday

Saturday was the epitome of rainy October: damp, gray & periods of rain

it called for lingering in pajamas and watching "just one more show"; a late morning run to Dunkin Donuts & since we were already out in the rain, a stop at Target

when daddy got home from work it was time for a nap for baby & Ree & Daddy time building towers out of used yogurt cups

and a few errands for Momma, with a stop at church & the library

then it was a family trip to the big box craft store where we all lingered in the art supply aisle. Nothing came home with us, but we added quite a bit to Ree's birthday & Christmas lists!

Saturday night was family movie night that was cut short by a stuffy, cranky little 4 year old who needed bed

Sunday dawned early and bright. The epitome of beautiful October: golden sun, crisp air.

There was Mass, another Dunkin Donuts coffee run, the decision to let go of all Sunday afternoon out-of-the-house plans due to a stuffy, cranky little 4 year old.

Daddy worked out in the yard, little girls napped/rested, Momma knit & read & puttered around picking things up here and there.

All in all it was a pretty nice first weekend of October!

From last night. First weekend of Autumn sunset From last night. Our happy place. Most likely one of the last times we'll see the sunset here until next spring. Joining @crnnoel for #mybeachfriday IMG_2375

This weekend was what we all needed

It started with a sunset trip to our happy place. The colors didn't disappoint. We all were at peace and serene. Something that hasn't happened a whole bunch lately.

Those feelings carried through the next two days.

We did things without any rush, without any stress. We stuck close to home for the most part.

There was a whole lot of intention, a whole lot of going slow. And lo and behold, a whole bunch of things got accomplished. With no anxiety or the feeling of discontent.

Here's hoping it lasts as the week begins!

***

I took a wee bit of a blogging/social media/internet break last week. After the finish of Poetry in Everyday Beauty I found I needed it. It felt refreshing! I look forward to catching up with everyone this week!

This weekend was anniversary weekend!

There was a spontaneous trip to Cape Cod (I'd never been!). My husband planned the trip around some yarn stores!
So there was some buying of yarn (more on that Wednesday)
walking around
sunset watching
late night driving with two sleeping girls
then the last half hour with a screaming baby
there was a date night dinner while the girls spent time at my parents
dodging the raindrops as we walked around a local fishing village
Sunday morning tradition of Mass, coffee & relaxation
Sunday afternoon of grocery shopping, watching a little football and visiting family
trying to capture the absolutely stunning Sunday night sunset, unsuccessfully

All in all it was a fantastic weekend! How was yours?

The state of my living room after a day of momma being sick. The tv has been on all day....PBS so that counts as educational right? The baby has been "reading". I won't show you the kitchen.

This was the majority of our weekend

Television on kids shows way more then usual
toys strewn all over the living room
(and kitchen. and dining area. and bathroom.)

Momma coughing and sneezing
Baby & big girl playing so sweetly together

Thankfully Daddy was home yesterday & Momma finally felt semi-normal
so there was a little bit of cleaning
but mostly just relaxing still
watching some football (we won't discuss that)
cooking a little
and getting ready for a new week

We began our weekend Friday night with pizza night

Yesterday momma & daddy's allergies decided to start acting up. And a certain baby decided to teeth miserably. Poor Ree tried really hard to keep everyone from getting too cranky

We woke up congested again today. Not feeling sick, just stuffy and sleepy

There was Mass, coffee, trying to ignore the humidity, lots & lots of knitting by Momma, lots & lots of coloring by Ree. Still to come today is visiting family

It's a three day weekend so we have more tomorrow! A cookout with family here. I am planning on making chowder and clam cakes....my first time! We'll see how it goes!

This weekend:

There was a trip to the library that resulted in my budding artist picking out almost all the drawing books
me bringing home some books on book binding and journal making
thanks to Amy's hard work with her Art Together series, especially issue 4,
we will be going down a little trail of making our own books

I went out for a few hours Saturday to run errands
came home to a screaming baby
someone missed her Momma. As soon as I was home she was all smiles

I spent some time working some more on my Poetry In Every Day Beauty (registration will be open through September 8th, along with the bring a friend option!) course
and some time planning out some more of "school". Ree has been insistent about reminding me that this year she is going to learn to read and do math and cook

We went to a car show we happened to pass after Church & an impromptu trip to the zoo
both resulting in no naps or rest time yesterday which made for some cranky kids at my sister-in-laws

A not too bad weekend if I do say so myself!

So far the weekend has been a mix of relaxation & busyness. I feel like we lived a whole weekend on Saturday alone!

There was a slow early morning of finishing my book & beginning a new knitting project
then the rest of the morning was spent cleaning & organizing
I cleaned out & organized my fabric & yarn stashes
I pulled everything out of the downstairs closet & put things in their proper places
I organized our art supplies & put them in the closet
Daddy came home so he & Ree took the organizing outside
weeding a little bit
sprucing up the gardens with pinwheels
cutting up some wood they found

late in the afternoon we went blueberry picking
home for grilled hamburgers
Ree & I went out to buy one of her Auntie's a birthday present
home for baths and bed!

today has been slow so far
early morning coffee, reading & knitting
but soon there will be Church
and coffee out
running a few errands to pick up the rest of the birthday things
then celebrating the birthday of course!

Morning prayers, coffee and thunderstorms. If this headache would go away this would be a perfect morning! #hellomorningcoffee

Oh this weekend has been full of cranky. Momma's mostly. For no good reason either, just a mood that I can't shake. And a headache. Which could explain part of the mood!

There has been some sewing
some knitting
some reading
a whole bunch of lounging around

There has also been some weeding
some time at the beach
some time spent on the back deck

So it hasn't been ALL bad.
Ree & her daddy are off running a few errands
baby is sleeping (finally)
maybe I'll go knit a little
or work some more on the big girl quilt

I hope everyone else has been having a good weekend!

For the first time in 2 weeks I did yoga. Missing all that time made a difference. And shows me that when I do it regularly, my body does respond in a healthy way! Back on the wagon as of today! Then of course I needed to run through the sprinkler with a IMG_1445 IMG_1431

Our weekend began Friday when daddy got home from work early (he had to work Saturday morning but I'm not counting that)

Friday there was yoga in the backyard, fun in the sprinkler and water table, a trip to get more bird seed and dinner out

Saturday morning was slow. Look at that! I picked up my knitting again! Then there was the beginnings of organizing all the baby clothes that don't fit the baby anymore. Organizing of the craft supplies to start making it more the baby's room rather then her stuffed in the craft room.

While at the grocery store Saturday afternoon I decided it would be fun to have an impromptu cookout that evening. So bought the supplies then texted my people last minute. Thankfully my parents, sister & her family are always up for a get together especially if there is food!

Sunday was slow. Another trip to the grocery store for the things I forgot the day before. A little more work on the organizing. Some knitting. Some World Cup watching. Another cookout, this time at my sister-in-laws.

How was your weekend? I'm linking up with Karen!

Weekending

Pondering things today. Trying to decide whether to begin a new blog to share the monthly prompts. They don't fit my usual blogging subjects. Will writing two blogs work? While discerning which path to take in a few different things, I think a few days of IMG_1337 IMG_1367 IMG_1375

The weekend had heat, humidity, sun, rain (lots & lots) more sun, & beautiful temperatures.

It was a four day weekend here since my husband took Thursday off too. We went to the mall that day because of the heat & humidity.

The 4th dawned overcast and then turned into a deluge of rain thanks to Hurricane Arthur. Our plans for a cookout at my sister's turned into a cook-in. We all still had fun. Really, whenever we get together it's fun. We don't need sun!

Saturday was spent outside for the most part. Ree & daddy (finally) got our vegetable garden planted. And she was able to plant all her morning glory seedlings. She was also give a pepper plant to put in her own garden. She was over the moon! She has told everyone she comes into contact with that it is her pepper plant and she will get one red pepper and everyone can have a bite!

Yesterday we went to a local park to see the animals, walk around and play on the playground. Did you know peacocks are loud? Extremely loud? We were standing feet away from him when he decided to squawk. Baby wasn't too happy!

It was a fun filled holiday weekend and I am sad to see it end. Re-entry is hard sometimes!

The weather this weekend was spectacular! We began it Friday night with a trip to get fish n chips and a walk by the water.

Saturday morning the girls and I ran a few errands. Daddy came home from work so while he & baby stayed home for a bath (for her) and naps (for them both!) Ree and I went to run more errands.

That evening we headed to my hometown for a quick supper; a walk on the "big beach" to look for rocks. There was supposed to be no swimming. Until Ree fell in the water. Then she and I decided it was warm enough to take a little swim.

We left wet and sandy and with a bucketful of rocks. We headed to my parents house to give Ree a bath and to feed the baby while the husband and my dad went to pick up ice cream.

Sunday morning was Mass; a coffee trip and then home to prepare for Ree's four and a half birthday party. With her birthday in December and especially this year as she had a brand new baby sister, she didn't have a proper birthday party. We celebrated yesterday. The weather was gorgeous for a flower party outside with our family.

Today is finishing cleaning up and spending lots of time outside. The weather really is gorgeous!
