Weekending

IMG_0612 IMG_0614

This weekend has been lovely so far

Saturday morning called for a trip outside in pajamas
to pick all the Johnny jump ups before daddy cut the lawn
you can tell she is yelling "no!" as she picks

Momma played with the settings on her new camera
hence the super vivid colors of the neighbors iris

After seeing many pictures on twitter & instagram of people sewing
I got out my sewing machine and fabric to work on a quilt for baby
the same quilt that was supposed to be made before she was born
and then for her 1st Christmas
six months after she arrived sounds about right

I got the front together & found out I don't have enough for the backing
so it's cobbling together one from stash
thank goodness for drawers groaning with fabric

Ree has spent the majority of the time outside with Daddy
they both are in their glory
gardening, planting, cutting, pruning, digging in dirt
I have bandaged & kissed boo-boos galore
but they both happily head back outside afterwards

Baby V has spent the majority of the time happily sitting in her bouncy
helping me work on the quilt
which she seems to love so far

Right now there are brownies baking for our trip to the in-laws later this evening
baby is sleeping
and Momma may head back to that quilt
or my book

Linking up with Karen to share our weekend!

  1. Hello...I'm visiting from Karen's Weekends link up! Your weekend sounds lovely. Good for you for sticking with that quilt and being determined to finish it, even if it is 6 months after Baby's arrival. Before our daughter was born, I started embroidering quilt squares to make a quilt for her. 3 1/2 years later before our son was born I finished the embroidering. :) Then when our daughter was married she had her grandmother help her put it together, and then our daughter quilted it in time for the birth of her son. Mine got finished eventually...and with three generations working on it, but it took much longer than yours did!

  3. I do love the picture of the iris. What kind of camera did you get? My camera has been having some issues - and just before vacation time. Such a bummer. Will look forward to seeing the cute quilt when it is finished! Enjoy the rest of the long weekend.

  4. Sounds like a lovely weekend. I just signed up for a craftsy class on quilting on a home sewing machine, so I'm excited to get to work. I hope you'll show yours when it's finished.

  5. I love that Ree is in her garden glory. Emerson loves to be in the garden too and saves every seed to plant.
I wish I could sew a quilt, it's on my list to learn.

  6. What a wonderful week-end you had... I miss my sewing machine. Haven't been on much! That should change soon, with the gardens and beds being almost entirely in "now let them grow" mode.

Hope you week is just as lovely!

  7. mmmm brownies! I love how you described the fabric groaning - I think my yarn does that. I'm trying to think up ways to knit through the bits and ends of fingerweight yarn. I think I might be on to something.

Love love love her puffy ponytail!
