Right now

Right now.....

*I can't believe the weekend went by so fast
*That first cup of coffee may need to be followed by a second
*Thankful that potty training is going so well
*Wondering how potty training will go with our busy (out of the house) morning
*Looking forward to spending time with friends
*Needing to do at least 4 loads of laundry
*Loving our freshly mowed yard
*Looking forward to an an easy meal week...tons of leftovers!
*Hoping we can catch the ice cream truck this week....he goes so fast!

Weekending

So far our weekend has consisted of lots & lots of outside time.
Ree couldn't wait for her Daddy to get home yesterday morning.
All she wanted was to "go help daddy cut the grass."
She spent the afternoon picking up grass clippings.
Of course in style with her Tinkerbell gloves.
And while potty training. No accidents!!

Mommy helped outside too but also cooked inside.
Eggplant parmeson.
And American Chop Suey.

A lot of knitting got done too. Hopefully I'll have a finished flamingo sweater this week to show you!
And finished pajama pants!

Thankfully there is another full day today!
Church; our traditional coffee and donut run;
More yard work; maybe some more knitting;
Visiting with family; and relaxing.

A wonderful weekend!

Yarn Along

I'm still not 100% sure of the pattern I'm going to use for the lace yarn I showed last week. But I wanted to let  you know about the Wholehearted Shawl KAL that Evelyn is hosting. I did purchase the pattern but feel like the lace won't work for it. I'm still on my self imposed no yarn buying so work from the stash and I don't have the yarn for it. But Evelyn is doing a wonderful thing and I wanted to point it out.

As for my knitting this week I finished the ankle sock (only 1) I was working on. This one sock probably has taken longer then a usual pair of socks sometimes does. I think it's because I'm not really into knitting socks right now.

I did cast on for a sweater for Ree because she came up to me with the pink yarn saying "Momma I NEED a pink sweater." When she says that she needs something knit I tend to cast on right away.
I'm using the Menemsha pattern and I have a feeling it will knit up quickly. This picture doesn't do the yarn justice because the pink is REALLY pink, like flamingo pink. Hence she is now calling it her flamingo sweater. And she has been helping knit can you tell from the picture?

I'm still not in the middle of a book. I've been browsing through different herbal books and cookbooks from the library. Nothing very interesting though!

Enjoying

Right now I'm enjoying:

~The early morning light
~My first cup of coffee of the day
~A head almost all clear of allergies!
~That I have a menu plan for the rest of the week!

Yesterday's rain pretty much cleared up whatever was floating around in the air that was making Ree & I so miserable. Last night we went for a short chilly walk after supper. This was the first time we've walked around our new neighborhood. It's so pretty! There are so many pink dogwood trees around. But of course I forgot my camera. I'm sure there will be many more walks though!

Weekending

Weekending with Amanda

Despite both Ree & I feeling under the weather with bad allergies we've still managed to have a wonderful weekend.

Saturday the weather was nice enough to:

....have a picnic
....spend time at the playground with Daddy
....watch the birds
....knit outside
....go shopping to buy toddler tools so she can help with the yard work

Sunday morning started with a phone call wondering if we'd be at the birthday party. The invitation got lost in the mail. So we

....went to Church
....rushed to buy a present
....spent a fun time with family at the birthday party
....came home to cuddle on the couch
....spent time watching the rain (finally) fall

The activities we had planned for Earth Day will carry over until tomorrow!

Yarn Along

A few weeks ago Donna's daughter began knitting a pair of ankle socks. I wanted some too! I finally cast on for my own pair the other day. It am improvised pattern using Donna's notes and a heel from another pattern. Although I've made tons of socks I'm still not comfortable improvising the heel and gusset!!

I found this lovely lace weight yarn in the stash the other day. I remember buying it years ago but don't remember for what. I know I cast on something with the 3rd skein though because it's already wound. The lace weight threw me off it's so thin! Now I'd like to make something with it. Possibly a scarf. I'll have to check out ravelry for an easy pattern.

Right now I am

Wondering when we'll get all the rain we need

Loving this beautiful weather

Hoping my little seedlings keep on doing so well!

Reading Nothing at the moment...need to find a new book!

Wearing Still in my pajamas

Hearing The birds at the feeder & the tv on waiting for the local weather report

Creating knit ankle socks; & trying to decide which of the many embroidery projects in my head I want to do

Enjoying the little blue flower Ree picked so she could "smell it in the house too"

In the Kitchen I'm trying so hard to eat healthy around here. I figure with the start of all the produce in season this is a good time to begin. I need recipes/ideas & just haven't had the time to sit at the computer to look them up. But that's a goal to work on. Maybe this weekend when we're supposed to get a bit of rain.

Giving thanks for the beautiful day we had yesterday. It was perfect from beginning to end. A day full of friends; gorgeous weather; hours outside; a summer supper; and windows open through the night.

Weekending

This weekend we....

Played on the swings
Spent hours outside
Worked some more on taking down the shed
Found a squirrel nest in said shed
Watched my dad almost get attacked by said squirrel
Got Ree a tricycle
Went for a nice Sunday drive
Had chinese
Baked
Cleaned
Slept

Summer is coming this week. Tomorrow's forecasted heat is 88 degrees! I really like Spring and am a little sad that it seems to maybe have bypassed us this year! My goal this week is to sit down and write up a few healthy meals. I want to start eating better!

Storms

The weather has been a bit crazy the past few days. A beautiful sunset; then we've had torrential downpours one minute and the next bright sunshine. Last night Ree & I saw a rainbow which sparked her wanting to go to the library to get some rainbow books.

This evening we watched a storm descend upon our house from the north; pour so hard we could hardly see the house across the street; then we watched the gorgeous blue skies to our south get consumed by the storm and gorgeous blue skies come upon us from the north.

Nature is so beautiful!

Yarn Along

This isn't much of a yarn along post. I don't really have anything on the needles because I have a long list of what I want to knit but can't decide which to start first.

Yesterday afternoon I thought I had solved that by printing off Karen's pattern for her cinderblock cowl. I went and stashed dived and found some yarn that will be good for it. Then realized I didn't have any size 8 circular needles long enough. So I cast on with 7's but the yarn is just too heavy for them and it's not making the knitting easy.

So I left it on the living floor to go do a few things. When I turned around awhile later I saw this:
I asked what are you doing? She said "Knitting like Momma". She calls it a bracelet since it's in the round. She sat like that for quite some time. Many times she'll sit in my lap while I'm knitting and hold the needles with me. I'm wondering how old she'll be before she's knitting on her own!

I eventually took it off the needles and rewound the ball so now I'm back where I was yesterday: with nothing cast on needles and too many projects to choose from!

I didn't even have a book going until late last night when I started reading The Wedding Quilt by Jennifer Chiaverini. Even that's not very good. Kind of slow. I guess I'm just having a "I want to read and knit but don't know what" kind of day!!

I'm still joining with Ginny at her Yarn Along. Just not sure if I'll have anything to add next week!! :-)

Thursday Morning Light

After reading Karen's morning post about thrifting and being a morning person I walked around my house to take a few pictures of the morning light.

I've never been much of a morning person preferring to stay up late late at night. That always seemed to be when I did my best work. But I also need time in the morning by myself to wake up; have my cup of coffee; and mentally start my day with quiet. Thankfully Ree is very much NOT a morning person so as long as I'm up by 7:30 (I know, not THAT early really!) I am guaranteed at least an hour of Mommy wake up time.

But I do enjoy catching the early morning light as it shines through the house and across our yard and the cemetery next door. There's a peacefulness about the world as the day begins.

Yarn Along

I finished Ree's Easter Shrug! I don't know what I was thinking but one of the sleeves is full length & the other 3/4. But that's ok. It looks so cute on her and she loves it! Pictures of it on her next week!

I also started an Easter washcloth. I have a few other small projects that I wanted to get done for Easter. They won't be ready for Easter Sunday but thankfully the Easter Season is 50 days so I'm all set!! And then Ginny went and posted this morning about the cute eggs & basket she's knitting! Now I need to make those too!

As for reading I started Mockingjay...book 3 of the Hunger Games. Its starting pretty slow. But I'm sticking with it to see how the trilogy ends!

Hop on over to Ginny's to see what everyone else is knitting these last few days before Easter!
